There is a couple guesthouse... but if you really want to experience the hill tribe and the mountains go to Akha Hill House... located in the mountains the guesthouse is owned by Mr Apae, a nice and friendly man (he owns as well Akha river house in Chiang Rai, great place where you get free bycycle, room 150-200 bath) He can pick you up in Chiang Rai (around 4.30pm just contact him!) to take to his guesthouse where after the short ride you will discover a nice village . Bungalows start from 150 bath and 10% is giving for a project . You will meet and learn about Akha people and drink the 'jungle tea' ( you can still find beer (90bath ) no worries )
During days, there is plenty of trekking and walks to do ... or just chilled out on the balcony and take it easy ....
To go back to Chiang rai, easy Mr Apae give a ride every morning at 8.30am .
Getting Chiang Rai is possible by bus from Bangkok, Chiang Mai and probably more ... you can also get flight ...
