France's most popular destination is the romantic capital of
Paris. Whilst a little cliche, many travellers do propose to their girlfriends in Paris. If you are trying to impress someone, Paris is always a great place to start. For those already in a relationship, Paris is a great place for a dirty/romantic weekend. The trip from London to Paris can be done by plane, however the Eurostar is an attractive alternative as you are able to see the world passing by (very fast!). Any trip to Paris would be incomplete without a walk down the Champs Elisse, taking in views atop the Eiffel Tower (or sitting on the grass below looking up), visiting the Louvre (or the Musee D'orsay if the Louvre is closed), taking in a show at the real Moulin Rouge or even a day at Euro Disney for a Laugh!
Paris, whilst the best known, it is just one of many destinations France has to offer adventurous travellers. In summer, destinations like
Cannes are popular for people watching especially around the Cannes Film Festival. You can never look too good in these places so don't be afraid to bring along your Prada sunglasses and handbags.
Nice is especially nice (why is that we all say this?) as it has a fabulous beach for swimming and lounging around. During peak summer it will be crowded, so expect to pull up a towel next to thousands of French holiday makers and foreigners as you fight for your spot. It's also a great place for adventurous travellers to enjoy a drink or a meal. If you are looking for something a little more laid back,
Lyon could be the place for you to take a tour into the country side for some wine tasting and to explore the old castles. Of course if you love wine, you definitely would want to check
Beaujolais or even
Champagne.
If you are travelling to France in winter, you will be spoilt for choice especially if you love the white powdery stuff (ie snow!) If budget is no issue, then
Chamonix is the place for great winter skiing/snowboarding and the place to be seen. Another popular destination that is more affordable for adventurous travellers include
Les Arcs.
