Lille is a fantastic city to visit for a weekend. Vieux Lille (Old Lille) with its narrow cobbled streets is lovely to wander around. Lille is a fantastic city to visit for a weekend.  Vieux Lille (Old Lille) with its narrow cobbled streets is lovely to wander around.  There is plenty of shopping to the South of the Grand Place, while there are also some nice boutiques in Vieux Lille along with the Euralille shopping Mall which is near Gare Lille Europe or Gare Lille Flanders Metro station.  Most shops are closed on Sunday.

While there are plenty of places to eat around the Grand Place, there are also some nice restaurants and bars along Rue de Grand.  Monsieur Jacques is a small wine bar along Rue de Grand and has a good selection of wines – especially rogue (red).  Try sampling some of the Flemish specialties: moules & frites (mussels & fries) or carbonade (a beef stew with gingerbread and a beer and brown sugar gravy). less
