margaret river is the focal point of a vast region of tourism from wineries to the worlds most famous surfing spots.

the locals call it "margarets" and is full of fantastic wineries which are not only set up for the eye but also are some of the best wines you will taste in the world....  wineries i would recommend are wise in dunsborough which is rare as it overlooks the ocean on an awesome piece of land. If you are staying for lunch in most wineries and are on a budget then i suggest you maybe eat at the local shop and just go for the tastings. Most have great restaurants overlooking sensational views of lakes or fields but will also charge you handsomely for the privilage of eating there.  there is also several good breweries and chocolate factories.

the local golf course is fantastic and the members will invite you there with open arms... it is a typical country course with a world class layout and sensational friendly atmosphere. this is no easy course and will sort you out...

as for the surf well all the best surfers in the world rate margarets as the best......

for a feed go to winos and try their pub grub at the bar or if you have a bit more cash and have booked then go to the restaurant. their is three pubs all have their own character.

the whole region around margarets is awesome including Hamelin Bay, Augusta, Yallingup, Dunsborough. You need a good two weeks to see it all.  Enjoy. less
