Weekend Trip to Marrakech in Morocco.  Weather was great for winter time in the UK.  Had low to mid 20's!

Stayed at a gorgeous Riad (B&B) called Dar Silsila, we were picked up from the airport and taken to the Riad located in the Medina (old town) and on arrival was given mint tea and biscuits.  Our room was decorated in a Morroccon theme and we had a roof top terrace.

We walked around the souks (markets) which sold spices, carpets, shoes, meat, lighting etc.
The souk owners try intice you into the stores which can become a little annoying but we did buy some outside light covers.

The main square was crazy, full of snake chamers with cobra's - Lee was too scared to get too close and more scared of the men selling fake wooden snakes!  There were also orange juice stalls, spices for sale, fortune tellers, shoe shinners in the main square and then at night the food stalls come out where you can eat.

We had lunch over looking the main square - we ate couscous and tangine.

We did a tourist bus tour around the city and had dinner at a lovely morroccon restaurant.  We also had more mint tea in another riad outside in a courtyard.

The place was so colorful, full of smells (some good, some bad), friendly locals, great food and it was so different than visiting Europe.

Walking down the street we even bumped into a Australian couple we know!  Small world huh.

Every morning and evening we heard the mosque's prayers around the city!
