For my summer break I ventured down to South Africa and also popped my head into Zimbabwe. Probably should have looked to go elsewhere due to the weather as it was raining all the time in Zimbabwe.
The whole trip was very action packed with something happening out of the ordinary every day.
Before even leaving London I was lucky just to be allowed to leave London as the check in lady checked my passport and I just scrapped through with the minimum free blank pages left in my passport.
Then upon arriving in Cape Town being told my luggage had been left in London and I would not get it for 48hours, only to receive it then fly to Port Elizabeth and have it left in Cape Town for the second time. Quite frustrating indeed.
On to Zimbabwe I went after spending New Years with Richard which was really scary and I never felt comfortable there. I had to change money not so legally on the street as you can't pay for anything by credit card or withdraw money from a bank.
The situation is pretty bad there with not much food available or even the chance to purchase petrol anywhere in the country.
Upon leaving Victoria Falls I had to perform first aid along with another guy on the tour on a whole family in 4x4 which had rolled several times off the side of the road. Police had no idea what to do.
On the game drives I got to see so many animals and took some great photos although the highlight had to be the night lion stalk where we hunted out prey for two lions to kill. Awesome...!!
