I took off to Tunisia with Mick and Mr Brown. The trip started in Tunis, where we explored the souk as well as the ancient ruins of Carthage. I must say that the Tunisians have done an excellent job of completely stuffing-up the ruins of a mighty ancient city state. When I say that, don't think that I didn't love my visit there... We had some excellent dining experiences in Tunis. One of the best was when Yassir Arafat came and dined at the table beside us at some fancy restaurant in town. There were dishwashing and tea towel drying calls flying about left right and center. But Yassir was a great sport and laughed along. Anyway, then we hired a car and buggered off down the coast and the inland, where we eventually made it to Star-Wars country. This was unexpectedly a lot of fun. Lots of cool sites too. Then we took our 2-wheel drive rental car bush bashing across the desert to an oasis town called Al Sandniggerorsomethin. Or something like that. It is a little way into the Sahara desert. Very excellent! Then it was off to the Muslim holy city of Kairoun. We stayed at an excellent 4 and a half star hotel on the edge of the souk, where we were treated to the free extras of salmonella and champala-bacter that were sprinkled on our food. Not a great way to end, but all in all an excellent trip!
