we arrived in phomn phen after a very bumpy 6 hour bus trip from saigon and met our first new aussie mates on the way!
our first night out in cambodia was a strange one, first of all we couldnt find any accommodation due to a massive festival being on where half of cambodia decided to arrive in phomn phen the same time but they were sensible and booked ahead unlike us!!!!!!! then having to walk about the streets in pitch black looking for somewhere to eat! found plenty of rats just couldn't catch them!!!!!!!!!!! ended on a good note though a got p!ssed with our new aussie mates!!!
we tried to do some site seeing but due to this massive festival we got swept along the streets with the crowds whether we were going that direction or not!!!!!! so we ended up spending the night down at the river with half of cambodia watching the local boat racing where first prize was a mighty 100 bucks to be shared between a team of 20!!!!!!
we did however manage to take in the S21 prison and the killing fields, a very disturbing piece of history. we only took one photo as it just didnt feel right.

we had another nice little bus journey to siem riep of about 8 hours, on the way we stopped of for a snack and jumped off the bus to be greated with plates of deep fried tarantulas, crickets!!!! as expected we passed and managed to somehow find a coulpe of banana sannys to keep us going!!!
after a 5am pick up the following day we spent 11 hours exploring the famous angkor wot temples, they were amazing, we only included about 30 of the 200 photos we took. one of the temples was the film site of the tomb raider movies!
after the long day and early start we relaxed with a local massage and a few nice cocktails so the following day which was meant to be spent exploring more of the temples was instead spent relaxing by the pool!!!!!
