Arrived about 6pm into Tokyo Narita Airport and headed for the train to get into Ginza. We got an express train and took about 1 hr to get to Ueno where we had to swap to the subway. Some friendly Koreans helped us find the right train and we made it to our hotel. We then walked around Ginza and had some Noodles for dinner.
Friday 14th Jan - up before 6am to go to Tsukiji Central Fish Market - acres and acres of fish being sold - all sorts - hugest Tuna ever seen! Its chaotic with carts and people running around everywhere. Ian had a sushi breakfast there (can't get any fresher!). We were lucky too in having a gorgeous day weatherwise - sunny and clear winter's day.
We then headed on the subway to Asakusa where we saw the Senso-Ji Temple, walked all around this area and was great to see and experience. There was a large incence cauldron which you rub the smoke over you for good health.
Leading up to the temple is Nakamise-dori a shopping street which sells all sorts of tourist stuff which we did buy a few items. There was a shop selling dog clothes which was funny!
We then went to Akihabara which was electronics town and Ian was in heaven. We walked all around different stores seeing TV, stereos, speakers, Cameras, etc before we werea bit naughty and got a new Digital Canon SLR Camera! But is really well priced over there.
We had a noodle lunch and then went to the Imperial Palace - home of the emperor and imperial family, its closed to the public but can walk around outskirts.
Next was to Park Hyatt to go up to the 42nd Floor to the Peak Lounge and have a drink whilst seeing panaramic views of the whole city, we got up about sunset and was a gorgeous view and lounge with lanterns. (Anyone whose seen "lost in Translation" - this lounge and hotel is in movie)
Finally was back to Ginza where we had Tempura dinner and Saki before collapsing into bed.
