On Saturday we were once again at home at Bounds Green against the always formidable team of Wandsworth, the day was a wild and windy, the wildest we have seen in recent times and the ground was hard as concrete.

After a well fought game in the 3's and once again a nail bitter in the 2's just going down by 3 points.

The North London 1's took the field, minus Pony who had strained his hamstring in the warm up and with already many changes to the team from previous weeks, with players on trips over the long weekend.

Captain Marshy chose to kick with the breeze for the first quarter, but we failed to capitalise on the situation letting Wandsworth kick a couple while we kicked 3.

The second quarter Wandsworth took control of the game, ut to our boys credit fought back with a couple of good goals to keep the game alive.

By half time the scores were almost level thanks to some hard work by Forcet on the ball and captain courageous playing his best game so far controlling the ruck. Also contributing well was first gamer Tinners taking some strong marks in the back line.

Once again when we had the wind in the third quarter we failed to take control of the game as Wandsworth little men tore us apart out of the guts and around the ground.

Our indirect kicking let us down and having the wind meant we let it go to waste. It saw us go into the 3rd quarter break 3 goals down and our backs up against the wall.

In the wash up wandsworth ran over the top of the boys in the last quarter, kicking 7 unanswered goals making us look very silly a lot worse than we were.

Best players for North were:
Marshy, Faucett, B Mac, Dicko, and Tinners

Goal scorers:

Play of the day: On debut for the year for the Lions, Matt Dixon taking a great mark 20 metres out from goal then playing on, running into the open goal and slotting it through the behinds.

Mark of the day: Marshy marking strong all day around the ground.

After the game, the club went back to Camden Belushi's for the Mad Hatters Party. Everyone had a great time, some to the point of having a little bit a cuddle with the friendly door staff.
