Slovenia is one of the youngest countries in the world and was only recognised in 1992 as its own. As soon as we crossed the border we felt relaxed and the countryside got more and more beautiful the further in we went. There are over 7000 underground caves in Slovenia which offer stunning scenery with the underground lakes. We headed up to the capital of Ljubljana which was just beautiful. More canals and an old castle looking over the whole town. It is the capital but only has just over 200,000 people in it, which is refreshing after coming from Italy. No traffic and the camping was on the outskirts which was 4 kms from the centre of town. Love it. It got more scenic the further we drove. Fields with a church in the middle with the Austrian Alps as thier backdrop. This was only a taste test for what Bled had in stall for us.
Down to another incredible lake nearby which was surrounded by incredible mountains on all sides. We travelled down through the Soca Valley which is one of the most incredible views either of us have seen. The nature in Slovenia is unreal. One of the passes we went over (Ant and Kate) had metres deep of snow on it... still in April. Imagine what it would be like in Feb!! We throughly enjoyed winding our way back over to Italy.
