Day 29 (Nat So Pah, ID - 26/5/04) Long Drive today so it was an early rise. The trip to the hot springs passed quicker with a few dozen games of the post-it name game. Of course the drive was a bit longer than was needed when we missed the turn off for our camp site and had to turn back to find it.
Arrivied around 4pm and got the camp set up. Most decided to try the hot spring pool that was beside our campsite. It was quite pleasant despite the slight green tinge to the water. It started to rain but it didn't make much difference as the water was so warm - and the hot tub even warmer!
Dined under the shelter in the camp site since the rain had decided to stay. Not much else to do here so it was back to the heat of the pool for most of us then some drinks before bed.
Day 30 (Jackson Hole, WY - 27/5/04) Left the hot springs to head for Jackson Hole. Weather had improved a bit as the rain had stopped but it was still very cloudy. When we arrived at the camp site we pitched up right beside the river on the grass verge.
That night we went to Bar-T-5 for a Chuckwagon dinner. Some got into the cowboy spirit by purchasing hats and guns! We all sat through an quick history of the place and the family who ran it before getting on our Chuckwagon up to dinner. On the way we were attacked by indians. Turned out just to be bad actors!
Food was good but the undoubted highlight of the night was when Kim 'volenteered' to take part in the entertainment for the night. Don't know what the Korean for Ooo-Lah-Lah is but I'm sure Kim got the idea of what he was saying.
Another quote for the collection from tonight "I'm sweating like a redneck reading a book".
After the Chuckwagon ride back down we headed into town and to the Million Dollar Saloon. Turned out only to be to get in and not the advertised ,000,000 so I think we got a bargain there. The bar stools were horse saddles and the place was decked out like a typical saloon you would see in the movies - except for the pool tables and music! The pool table provided the entertainment for the night - well up until Kim and Hiro tried to play on a table seemily reserved by a 6ft + cowboy. Of course regulars in pool halls will be aware of the unwritten rules 'winner stays on' and 'challenger pays' but either these rules don't apply in Asia or there was a translation problem! The end result was a lot of arguing and heated discussions before Hiro decided he could take the cowboy and gave him a shove in the chest. The cowboy didn't seem to know what to do and all his friends were egging him on so have it out with Hiro. Thankfully it all setlled down without any spilling of blood and we all made it home in one piece after a few more beers and games of pool - on a different table! Seems we weren't the only ones having a boisterous night as the ducks had a party all night in the rain.
