First helping hint for japur is not to trust rickshaw drivers. They are all in on the same scam, have a particular story that they all use, try and make friends with you, and then take you to numerous guest houses and shops. It's just a big scam.

I spent a week in goa over new years eve, it was a brilliant party atmosphere although I would not reccomend to stay in the calangute or baga areas.
We travelled 3 girls together and at that time of year there were many many indian men on their holidays. this meant that we were constantly harrassed, people taking our photos, sexual harrasment and gropping despite covering up.
