well after a well earned shower and slap up meal it was early to bed for everyone as we were all knackered from our efforts on the inca trail......
The next morning and it was 31 years old for me!!!!! booo hooo!!!!
the celebrations started by me and troels heading to the nearest bungee jump where we both jumped out a cabin from 100 metres!!!(you would think i was old enough to stop these type of things!)
At night the whole group went out for my birthday meal where all the guys had the local delicasy which is meant to be a kings meal!!! So we all stuck into a whole roasted giunie pig!!!!! It did taste as bad as the photos suggested but troels went one step further and actually sucked some of its brains out of its skull!!!!!! Afterwards it was out to celebrate around the bars of cusco!!!!
Next morning We were due to fly to Arequipa, but somehow the airline managed to cancel 4 of our tickets, so we couldn%u2019t fly. Instead Jose arranged a private bus to drive us first to Colca Canon.
We got picked up at 9:30 am and started what was due to be a 10 hour drive. We stopped for lunch at 3, and watched a TON of movies throughout the day.
As the evening wore on, the weather got BAD - snow and rain, so our bus slowed down to a ridiculously slow speed.
Then at 9pm %u2013 our bus broke down %u2013 in the middle of frickin nowhere. And the funny thing was the reason we were meant to be flying in the first place is its bandit country and isnt save to drive through the area!!!!!!
Our guide Jose had to walk the 15kms back to civilisation as there was no mobile signal!!! to make matters worse it was freezing so everyone was going into the boot and putting on all the clothes they had in there rucksacks!!!
Jose eventually turned up with a new bus at 1am and we finally got to our hotel at 3.30am!!!!! straight to bed!!!!!!
the next day and no one was up for much as we were al still knackered from our bus journey from hell so it was a little wander round the valley where we were staying then at night we all headed for the local hot springs where we rested our weary bones with a dip and a few beers!!!
the morning it was an early rise as it was off to the colca canyon to see the worlds second biggest bird, the condor with an amazing 3 metre wing span!!!!!!
we saw loads of these condors flying about and it was amazing but also where they were flying was in the colca canyon which is the worlds second deepest canyon at over 3200 metres deep!!!!
finally it was back on the bus and a 3 hour bus journey to aeroquipa where it was another early night!!
In the morning me and a few of the guys went whitewater rafting. Anna would of joined us at the rafting but it was her turn to go down with a bug!!!!!
Since it was murrays birthday everyone went out for a slap up meal where anna and monique had organised loads of decorations and cakes for me and murray for a joint celebration!!! best of all they had bought everyone water pistols so the rest of the night no one was dry as the water pistols were put to full use!!!! the night had to end though as we had another overnight bus to look forward to though, taking us to Nazca....
After a bumpy night we arrived in nazca where most of the group went on flights up to see the famous nazca lines( lines drawn in the desert that are miles long but were done thousands of years ago of animals. All very wierd). me and anna though just relaxed and found a great copy dvd shop where we topped up our collection!!!!
Next stop was pisco where we went round one of the local wineyard. the place was hit by a tsumani a few months before so the place was a mess and our hostel was being used as an office by alot of businessess in the area as most of the town still never had power!!!!!
Pisco is the stopping off point to get to the ballestos island which were our next stop.... there a group of islands just off the coast which is chock full of birds and sea lions!!! it was a short boat ride out and was pretty amazing with all the different animals living next to each other!!!!
It was back on the bus for our final stop off in south america, lima.
we were all out for a really nice meal on the seafront then it was out for our last big night out as a group!!! while we were all egtting organised to go out our tour guide turned up and told us he quit his job so was all pretty shocked!!!!
we headed out to the nice part of town where jose used his inside knowledge to get us all in a fancy bar carved into the cliff face of the seafront. the place was cool and not what you'd expect to find in peru!!!!! so it was another heavy night of drinking!!!!
We woke up to our last day in south america!!!!! so we all went our for a tony romas slap up meal and all said our sad farewells to everyone!!!!!!!!
