Annas birthday. pity we had to spend it in buenos airies airport where we were delayed 5 hours!
Eventually we arrived in Santiago where we start our 40 day trip with G.A.P travel.
We were introduced to the new gang that we would be travelling with and it looked like we struck it lucky as everyone in the group seemed to be up for a good time!
Our first couple of days of the trip were spent going out for meals and a few drinks with the group to get the chance to meet everyone! the majority of the group are our age and they come from england, ireland, oz, usa, canada and denmark! and a 50 50 split of guys and girls!
After our first couple of days in santiago is was time for our first group trip. It was a 6 hour bus journey to La Serena, a beachside town halfway up the coast of chile.
We spent a couple of days chilling out on the beach and getting to know the group more. It involved a few more drinks and meals together.
La serena was a cool little town which was on the edge of the worlds driest desert which had the the biggest consentration of the worlds most powerful telescopes.
It was time to move on and an 18 hour overnight bus took us to San Pedro De Atacama on the edge of the border with bolivia!
Here we went on a couple of tours to see geysers( big jets of gas exploding out the ground). It was a 4am start and was absalutely freezing! We were up at over 3000 metres above see level!!!! On this trip we jumped in some hot springs but thought we were going to die when we got out as it was so cold!!!!!!!!!!
We also did a trip of the valley of the moon where some of the scenery was amazing as youŽll see from the photos!
That was our week in chile up and next stop was to cross the border into Bolivia!!!!!!
