Madrid, Spain recommendation
|
We stayed at Hostal Barrera in Madrid. It was booked directly through the hotel, (via email but it all all safe and ok) and it was a lovely lovely place to stay. Maria (I think that was her name) is fabulous. She gave us lots of tips on where to eat, what to avoid etc. and even told us about the free entry to the Prado Museum from 6-8pm!
If you are lucky enough to get a refurbished room, its awesome. We didn't get too much street noise, and although there is no minibar, with all the free tapas ...

Marrakesh, Morocco recommendation

We trusted in our Marrakech Encounter and made our way to Riad Jama for lunch during our long weekend in this wonderful city. And are we glad we did! Don't be put off if there is no one in the restaurant part of the riad, the food really is beautiful. You're looking at about 60 dirhams for the lamb tagine, served with prunes and almond and worth every penny. The exchange rate in May 08 meant that this meal cost just over 4GBP!!! The staff were lovely and the serv...

Marrakesh, Morocco recommendation

This is more of a tip rather than a recommendation. Don't be afraid to eat at the food stalls at Djemaa el Fna (main square in Marrakech). The staff are lovely.
The top tip of the weekend.. if you can, get a seat away from the front edges, head towards the middle or ends...

New York, United States of America recommendation

Whilst staying in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY we stumbled across and Italian restaurant on Grand Street called Baci and Abracci. And what a place to stumble across. The food here was fantastic. A little cheaper than some of the places in Manhattan but the food far surpassed the price.
A wonderful Italian menu, which consisted of a gnocchi with shrimp and pesto (on the specials that night) and a wonderful lamb ragu pasta, it is a highly recommended restaurant in my book! Def...

New York, United States of America recommendation

We highly recommend having a drink (or even a meal) at the View Bar at the Mariot Hotel at times sqaure. Its a revolving restaurant that gives some great views of Manhattan in a relaxed atmosphere. Their signature cocktails are wonderful and you get to keep the souvenier glass! The house cocktails are about $18.00, but with the glass and the view its not a bad deal!...
