Tallinn, Estonia recommendation

We decided to go to Tallinn for the weekend as it was easy enough to get to Helsinki from there, and also just for something different. We had no expectations whatsoever, which I think made for a better holiday.

Just a quick tip about the Gaffe Irish Pub in Dubrovnik. Be wary of what you order. For example, if you want the standard vodka you need to specify that you want the LOCAL variety. If you aren't specific the bartender will pour a Smirnoff or Absolut and charge you more as a result (its double the price). They will not back down either if you query it. So just be sure to specify exactly what you want and don't make the mistake of ordering a 'vodka' or a 'gin' as y...

Berlin, Germany recommendation

On our first night in Berlin we discovered Standige Vertretung, a restaurant/bar by the river right behind Friedrichstrasse Station that is run by a couple of Chefs from Bonn who have a number of media and political contacts. The place is filled with atmosphere, photos and history. The staff are very friendly and the prices reasonable. We had dinner and drinks for less than 40euro.

On our first night in Athens we discovered a Gyros restaurant in the Plaka area that was fabulous. We didn't take much notice of the name but we had fabulous shish kebabs and Gyros. The next day we were reading the Lonely Planet and there was a recommendation for great Gyros in the Plaka area, so we went on the hunt.
