Singapore City Highlights (Edit)

Singapore is a great place to start your Asian adventures.

Taking the MRT from Changi Airport into town is dead easy and very cheap, even when carrying your backpack. The MRT is totally recommended for moving around town. I'm a walker but Singapore is on such a big scale that the MRT makes life so much easier.

We stayed at the Inn Crowd in Little India which has dorms and private rooms with clean bathrooms. Breakfast is included and they have internet and movies. They also do a quick tour once or twice a week of Little India which is totally recommended as their guides are really friendly and know a lot about the history and culture in the area. They also usually do a nightly activity. One is a trip to the Night Safari.

The Night Safari is excellent and quite different from normal zoos, so even if you are zoo'ed out its a good trip. Go early (around 6pm if you can) and make sure you catch the show. You can get up close with a lot of  animals that are usually asleep or rather inactive. There is also tiger feedings which is very cool. However, flash photography is not allowed. But you can still get some good shots if your camera is up to it.

Make sure you walk around the major culture centers, Little India, Chinatown and the Colonial District and check out Orchard Road for high class shopping. And get a pic of the Merlion of course!
