Was this useful? I would recommend no less than 3 days to spend in prague, although you could easily spend a week there. Food and drink can be a little expensive in the touristy areas, but you can generally find cheaper alternatives if you are prepared to hunt for less obvious places. Dont be afraid to try the 'street meat' cooked up in vans in the new town square - delicious and extremely cheap! A visit to the famous beer hall 'U Flecku' is a must. We also found a cool cocktail bar that overlooks the old town square. To get there, you must enter one of the bars (it is on the right as you walk into the square from Charles Bridge) and go to the elevators at the back, take one up to the top floor and walk up the stairs to the roof. It's a great view of everyone gathering to watch the astronomical clock every hour! Keep your wits about you in the crowded areas and guard your cash and bags closely. We did not see any crime but got warnings from pretty much everyone we spoke to... When visiting the Castle, make sure you get a pass into the 'Golden Lane'. The building opposite the entrance has medieval armour and weapons on display - and at the far end of the top floor you can pay to fire a crossbow! |
