Lille is fantastic place to visit, with magnificent old sections and a vibrant nightlife. Situated perfectly on the main train lines between London, Paris and Brussels, it is easy to access. The Vieux (old) quarter has old-world charm and is a wonderful place to wander around. Duck into one of the many small restaurants, hidden off the main streets of Vieux Lille, at lunchtime to get a wonderful meal at a decent price (under €10). The place to party is definitely the Rue Solferino! Cheap accomodation can be found at the Auberge de Jeunesse (Youth Hostel, HI) reasonably close to the Lille Flandres station (€16.50/night for members, dorm)
