Athens travel review & recommendations by Binnor

Was this useful? The main 'ancient' attractions, ie the Acropolis and surrounds, need no introduction. A little hint: in several metro stations there are exhibits of ancient artefacts - a great way to fill in some time/use that all day metro pass! The Student and Travellers Inn is located in the vibrant Plaka district of Athens. With friendly and informative staff and loads of extra services, from left-luggage (free) to cheap same day laundry to free internet to a relaxed courtyard, I can't recommend it highly enough! Plaka is a fantastic area, situated under the Acropolis, and buzzing with, admittedly largely tourist driven, atmosphere. Little restaurants and shops spill out into the narrow, twisting, very 'greek' streets. on the food front it's worth hunting down nice traditional places off the main Plaka streets and there's always the dirt cheap gyros to turn to: they're cheap, everywhere and filling! Greece is definitely a place I'm going to return to! |
