Las Vegas: rizardofoz's recommendation

A friend of mine and I were able to explore the Strip in a day.  Although we didn't stop in all the hotels and casinos, we ventured by almost all of them, and went in a good many.  If you want to take your time, allow an extra day to take in all the pizzazz of the city that never sleeps.  And believe me, it never does.  If you decide to gamble, the places we felt more at ease at were Paris and the Venetian, although we did a lot of gambling at the Sahara - which is where we stayed.  The Sahara is quite affordable (and still nice) especially when compared to the pricier locales like the Bellagio (-don't forget to check out the fountains at least one time while you're there!-) and the Luxor.

A placed to eat that I'd recommend is Ra, located near the Wynn, if I recall correctly.  It's a sushi place, so it will obviously be good, but the atmosphere is very nice and the service is enjoyable.  There are other dining locations around this area where Ra is.  If you just want a quick bite, many food stands are located within the actual casinos; Circus Circus even has a Subway and other quick eats.

The Stratosphere is also a great place to visit.  Try going up at night; you get a great view of the Strip with all the lights and vivacity of Las Vegas from way up.  Plus there are thrill rides at the top for the thrill seeker in your group.

Best time to go would be in the late fall, winter, or early spring.  It's gets much too hot in the summer; take it from people who went around the 4th of July!  It's sizzlin' there.
