The course took 2 days and we had to do 5 dives in order to complete the course. It is compulsory to do the Deep Dive and Navigation Dive but you choose the other three types of dive. We chose the Night Dive, Multilevel Dive and Peak Performance Bouyancy Dive. The night dive is really a spectacular experience and it comes recommended. Our instructor Simon was a great guy, professional and funny so it was the right mix of serious and adventure. The rest of the divemasters we went with were heaps of fun too. It cost us 7500 Bhat for the training plus another 700 Bhat for the PADI dive book. However, you also get a 100 Bhat per person per night discout for each night you are in the course if you are staying with a Buddha View affiliated hostel/accomodation (such as the Tropicana where we stayed). You also get discounted fun dives after doing the course (down to 700 Bhat per dive). With the diving trips (2 dives in the morning, 2 in the afternoon plus the occasional night dive) Buddha View includes all the required equipment and its all good quality. They also provide water, tea and biscuits on the boat so you stay fresh and alert. Transport to the dock is of course included as well. As well as teaching us a lot about diving the Buddha View crew knows a lot about the local marine life and they are really happy to share their knowledge with you. The marine life is varied around the island, from vast plains of anenome to white sandy bottoms and each environment has different locals waiting to be found. And of course, the occasional whaleshark! |
