Contiki: shawno's recommendation

This was my first real big adventure overseas and as none of my friends had the inclination to travel this tour allowed me to get out of Australia and start exploring Europe with 49 other like minded people.  Being a 29 day tour through so many countries meant we saw a lot very quickly.  The great thing was that we didn't waste any time getting lost, as that was the responsibility of our tour manager and driver. So whilst we partied and slept next day on the coach - they managed the day and drove us around (waking us when needed to see the main sites!).

You always hear about how on tour you meet friends for life, well I can support that claim as I still keep in regular contact with Sammy and Greg regularly (just to rub it whenever Australia plays SA or NZ in the rugby and win!).  After the tour finished about 20 of us stayed on and lived in London, regularly catching up for drinks.

Would I recommend this tour to any person who is wanting a great sample of Europe's most popular destinations?  Hell yeah!  Whether you are travelling by yourself, with a friend or with a partner (we had 3 married couples on tour), as long as you want to have fun Contiki certainly provided the experience they showed me in the brochure!.

Hightlights included; The 4 day stop in Corfu was a great break in the middle of the trip as it gave us time to unwind and enjoy a full day out relaxing on George's boat!  Being able to sample a country every few days was awesome.  Not having to worry about where we were going to sleep, what bus/train to catch etc for a first time traveller was excellent.  The fact that our coach had more guys than girls (which apparently is rare) meant that when we stayed in places with other tours we always had fun!  When ever I hear our "morning song" (Hooked on a feeling) it will always remind me of my Contiki tour.
