North India Highlights tour recommendation

I chose this trip with Intrepid  because it covered the Taj and Kharajuro temples and everything else  was gravy.  I love Intreped because they keep the groups very small which was great in India, while the larger groups had to line up for everything and had a laundry list of checkoffs, we were able to dart in and out of everything.  It felt like a group of friends doing this trip rather than a tour group.  The highlights of this trip for me was visiting an Intrepid sponsored paper making shop that gives local women the opportunity to work and take care of their families.  The Holy City of Varanasi was truly magical, with its bathing ghats, we were the only boat in the water for the sunrise over the sacred Ganges, where we got to watch, the faithful bathe in the holy waters.

My group ages were a couple in the late 20s, 30's and 70's.  No worries the 70 year old kicked all of our bottoms in the fitness category.

Others should do this trip because India is one of those places people are not sure they can handle, so they stay away.    I was doing a round the world trip so India was on the list,  I knew i wanted to love India, so it was crucial I was with someone who would make it special.  I did an Intrepid tour in Vietnam, so there was noone else I would even consider.  I met people who loathed India but they were ALL women.  India is a hard place for a woman to travel alone and I don't recommend it.  Because of Intrepid I am sure I could go back on my own with a friend or two and know what to do.
