New Amsterdam tours are are also brilliant - I've now done Amsterdam and Berlin and they are very worthwhile. The guides are very informative and funny. The walking is also good for the environment and you! They will take you all over the city and give you a nice mix of history and perhaps anecdotes - or maybe they are true stories! I know they do these tours also in London, Paris as well.

The only downer is because they are 'free' some people don't always pay much attention and it's quite distracting. Also the guide misses out when people are just keen to sponge and don't offer a tip in the end even if they have clearly enjoyed the tour. People like that shouldn't be able to live with themselves!
