Iceland is a working laboratory of geology. Geysers erupt on schedule, waterfalls thunder down black basalt cliffs, and vast lava fields stretch to the horizon. It's not a gentle landscape — it's raw and often harsh, which is exactly why people come.
The Ring Road circles the island and hits most of the major sights: hot springs, glaciers, fjords, black sand beaches. Summer (June–August) means nearly 24 hours of daylight and accessible roads; winter brings the aurora australis and emptiness. Both are legitimate reasons to visit.
Plan for high costs — Iceland is expensive, full stop. Food, accommodation, and car rental are all premium. Budget travellers can make it work with hostels and self-catering, but comfort doesn't come cheap here.
