About this tour
A two-day guided escape from Hobart into Tasmania's rugged backcountry, taking in Cradle Mountain National Park with hikes through temperate rainforest, past thundering waterfalls and into alpine terrain. Small groups (max 13) mean genuine connections with your guide and each other. You'll stay at a lakeside lodge and return to Hobart by day three, having spotted native wildlife and covered some of the island's most dramatic landscape on foot.

- Genuine chances to see wombats, platypus, echidnas, wallabies wild
- Waterfall and alpine ridge walks with big views

What to expect
Day one departs Hobart early, climbing into cooler, wetter country as you drive inland. You'll hit the first walks before lunch—shorter warm-ups along water courses where platypus and echidnas often surface. Afternoon brings more ambitious terrain, either rainforest or ridge depending on weather and fitness. Dinner and overnight at your lakeside base. Day two tackles Cradle's main peaks and cirques. Expect proper hiking (4–6 hours with breaks), steady climbs, occasional boggy sections, and exposure to alpine wind. Return to Hobart by evening. Wildlife spotting is regular but not guaranteed; patience and silence help.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required—no scrambling, but unrelenting grades and distance. Pack warm layers, waterproofs, sturdy boots. Summer (Dec–Feb) offers longest daylight; winter brings snow and closures. Breakfast included; bring snacks and water for walks.
