What to expect

You'll be picked up in the morning and driven through Ubud's backroads to the Monkey Forest first—expect close encounters with confident macaques and shaded temple walkways. The palace visit is quieter: ornate carved doorways, garden spaces, glimpses of traditional Balinese design. By mid-morning you'll reach Tegallalang, where the landscape opens into staggered rice fields. A walk here means navigating narrow paths between paddies; it's photogenic but uneven underfoot. Good to know

Not suitable if you have spinal issues or are pregnant. Wear sturdy shoes for the rice-terrace paths and bring sun protection. The monkey forest can be intense if you're uncomfortable with wildlife; keep bags zipped and avoid direct eye contact with the macaques. Most days are warm and humid.
