What to expect
You'll be fitted with wetsuit, helmet and harness at the start, then guided into Rio Verde's narrowing canyon. Expect a mix of walking along the canyon floor, abseiling down limestone walls (some 10+ metres), and swimming through deeper sections where the gorge closes in. The guide manages all ropes and anchor points; you follow their lead on technique and pacing. Physical exertion is steady rather than explosive, but you'll need to be comfortable in water and on rope. The crew handles photo documentation throughout, and you finish with food and drinks.
Good to know
Moderate to good fitness essential; no previous canyoning experience needed. Not suitable if pregnant, with spinal issues or weak cardiovascular health. Wear trainers with grip; bring a towel and dry clothes for after. Water and soft drinks provided; lunch is part of the package.
