What to expect
Day one involves walking through mixed upland forest and agricultural plots toward Ban Gioc, with stops at minority villages where residents go about daily routines. You'll reach the waterfall in early afternoon, have time to explore the basin, then trek to your homestay for dinner cooked by your host family. Day two takes you through Ngao Cave and along the border corridor before returning. Trails are well-trodden but uneven in places; mud is common after rain. Your guide speaks passable English and can explain local customs and livelihood. Expect basic but clean homestay rooms, squat toilets, and cold-water wash facilities.
Good to know
Hanoi transport (20 USD one-way) arranged separately. Bring trekking shoes with ankle support, rain jacket, and insect repellent. Mobile signal is patchy. No air-con in vehicles. Homestay rooms are fan-cooled. Early starts mean 6–7 a.m. breakfasts.
