What to expect

You'll board a comfortable wooden boat built in the traditional style and head out into the shallow waters where Chioggia's seafood production happens. Your guide will point out mussel farms—lines of ropes where shellfish grow—and explain the careful work involved. You'll see where Moleche crabs shed their shells seasonally, making them prized for cooking. The boat stops at oyster farms where you can observe how these mollusks are nurtured in the lagoon. Life jackets available on request. Small children under two travel free without a seat; ages two to three travel free but need a seat (must be added to booking). Infants can sit on an adult's lap.
