About this tour
Drift across the glassy Ono Seto Sea aboard HANAIKADA, a traditional flat-bottomed raft, while the UNESCO-listed Miyajima shrine and oyster farms drift past. This 2.5-hour dinner cruise pairs seasonal dishes with the slow-motion spectacle of the Seto Inland Sea. You'll sit near water level, close enough to feel the salt air and watch working rafts bobbing alongside. A car collects you from JR Onoura Station and returns you after dinner.
Highlights
- Float past UNESCO Miyajima shrine from the water's perspective
- Rare view of floating oyster farming rafts at dusk
- Low-slung raft design puts you metres above the sea
- Multi-course dinner: sashimi, grilled beef, oyster rice, miso soup
- Choose from local sake, shochu, beer or all-you-can-drink option
- Western toilet aboard; accessible for most fitness levels
What to expect
You'll meet your beige HANAIKADA van at Onoura Station's south exit (summer 17:30, winter 17:00). The short drive delivers you to the port. Once aboard, the raft motors slowly into the strait—no rushing. Dinner arrives course by course as Miyajima's silhouette darkens. The sea stays remarkably still here, so expect a steady platform, not a rocking boat. Local drinks are available to order separately; water and tea are complimentary. The journey loops back to port by night's end, and the driver returns you to the station.
Good to know
Wear flat, walkable shoes—no heels. Contact ahead about dietary restrictions and allergies. Children under 5 are free but you'll need to bring their drink set. Weather can cancel the cruise. If you drive yourself, there's a car park; let them know in advance. Missed the pickup? Taxis back to the station are on you.
