About this tour
This nine-day motorcycle tour traces the cultural backbone of northern Thailand, from Chiang Mai through Nan, Chiang Rai, and Pai. You'll clock 250–350 kilometres daily on curated backroads, stopping at the 800-year-old salt mines of Bo Kluea, Doi Phukha's forested ridges, the White Temple's intricate chambers, and Karen villages where you can sit with local families. Meals, mid-range hotels, all safety kit, and a bilingual guide with chase vehicle are included. Not for those with spinal issues or expecting travellers.

What to expect
Expect a physical commitment: seven to eight hours in the saddle most days on a mix of sealed highways and gravel switchbacks. The chase vehicle carries spare bikes and gear, so mechanical hiccups don't strand you. Nights land in three- and four-star hotels with hot showers and reliable beds. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are arranged; you cover your own bar tab. Villages and temples are woven into the route—not bolted on—so you'll see how people actually live, not perform for cameras. Weather in northern Thailand can turn; rain in September–November will slow pace but rarely halt it. You ride yourself; no pillion experience needed, though children can share a bike if booked separately.
Good to know
International driving licence required; contact the operator if you lack one. Protective gear (helmets, jackets, gloves, boots) is provided; bring your own if you need special sizes. Spinal injuries and pregnancy aren't suitable for this tour. Helmet use is Thai law; full protective gear is strongly advised. Route changes happen due to road works or weather—no refunds apply. Optional motorcycle health insurance costs $3 per day extra.
