Falconry experience in Tuscany

About this tour

Spend 90 minutes in the Tuscan countryside learning to handle Harris' buzzard with an experienced falconer. You'll wear a glove and call the bird directly to your arm, watching it dive and soar across open fields. This is hands-on work with a living predator, not a spectator sport. The falconer teaches you the basics of hawk handling whilst your camera captures the moment.

What to expect

You'll arrive at a falconry station in rural Tuscany and receive your leather glove and safety briefing. The falconer introduces you to Brave, a working Harris' buzzard, and teaches you how to stand, hold your arm steady, and read the bird's body language. Once you're ready, you'll call the bird from its perch. It launches, circles overhead, then returns to land on your glove—a powerful moment that demands focus and stillness. You repeat this several times across the session, building confidence. Expect the bird to be fast, the glove to feel heavy, and your arm to work harder than anticipated.

Good to know

Wear long sleeves and sturdy closed-toe shoes. The experience suits ages 8+. Not suitable if you have spinal issues, cardiovascular concerns, or are pregnant. Moderate fitness required. Bring a phone or camera for photos; the falconer can also film.
