After meeting your guide, you'll head to the trailhead and begin on a mix of heritage cobblestones and forest floor, passing through the woodcarving settlement of Hatake-juku. You'll arrive at the traditional teahouse mid-morning—a genuine working establishment, not a tourist stop—where amasake (sweet rice drink) steadies you for the final descent.
