What to expect

You'll arrive and select your kimono from an extensive collection, then a stylist will arrange your hair to suit your choice. The photographer will guide you through the nearby Japanese garden, positioning you in scenic spots as the light changes. Expect to spend roughly an hour being photographed across different garden sections. Afterwards, you're free to wander Shinseaki's compact downtown area—narrow lanes packed with independent shops, vintage arcades, and casual eateries—still wearing your kimono. Many locals and visitors photograph you naturally as you move through the neighbourhood.

Good to know

Wear slip-on shoes for easy kimono changes. Public transport is within walking distance; no car required. The experience suits all fitness levels but involves standing for extended periods. Bring a small bag if you want pockets; most kimonos don't have them.
