Learn to hand-pull noodles and craft broth at Musoshin Ramen Academy, Kyoto's only workshop run by an actual ramen restaurant. Over 90 minutes, you'll cook a Michelin-nominated bowl from recipes used by the chefs, then paint your own ceramic dish to take home (kiln-fired on-site). The kitchen caters to vegans, vegetarians, and gluten-free diets. What to expect

You'll start with a walkthrough of noodle technique—stretching and folding dough until it transforms into silky strands. Then comes the broth: layering stock, aromatics, and umami-rich tare just as Musoshin's cooks do each service. A chef will guide your hands through the motions; expect to get warm, a bit floury, entirely focused. Once your bowl is ready, you'll move to the pottery station and design the ceramic vessel it'll be served in. After painting, the staff takes your bowl to the kiln. You eat your ramen while it bakes, then take home the finished piece along with the recipe sheet so you can replicate it.

Good to know

Wear clothes you don't mind getting stained. The workshop sits near Gion with easy public transport access. Prams and buggies are welcome if you're bringing small children. All dietary requirements can be accommodated—mention them when booking.
