About this tour
Learn photography fundamentals from a practising Kyoto-based photographer during this three-hour private lesson. Your guide shares insider knowledge of the city's most photogenic locations—both obvious and overlooked—whilst teaching you how to read light, compose frames, and navigate your camera's settings. You'll work at your own pace, with instruction pitched to your current ability, and leave with both stronger technical skills and a personal map of where to return.

What to expect
Your photographer meets you at an agreed Kyoto location and takes you to spots they've chosen based on current light and your stated goals. Expect a mix of walking between sites and stopping to practise techniques—framing a temple gate, metering a backlit scene, managing depth of field. Your guide will watch your work, suggest small adjustments, and explain the reasoning behind them. There's no classroom component; learning happens by doing. The pace is entirely yours, so if you want to linger and shoot more, you do.
Good to know
Bring your own camera (phone or dedicated). Tripods are available on request. The walk is moderate; comfortable shoes matter. Book ahead so your guide can plan locations. Service animals welcome.
