What to expect

You'll start seated in a two-person rickshaw, traveling through Arashiyama's busier attractions whilst your guide points out architectural and historical details. The pace is leisurely—expect photo stops at scenic corners. Once you reach the mountain's edge, you'll step down and walk uphill along a quieter pilgrim route, passing traditional houses at a slower pace. The machiya interior visit takes 15–20 minutes, then a short walk brings you to the temple. On the return journey, the tea-house break is optional but worth it for a moment's rest before the final rickshaw leg back to your chosen finish point.
