A simple breakfast cooked using the mountain's volcanic steam vents awaits at the top. The trek takes roughly two hours up and involves moderate scrambling on loose volcanic rock. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included.

What to expect
You'll meet your guide in the dark, usually around 2–3 AM, and begin the steady climb on loose volcanic scree. Pace is moderate but relentless; the path gets steeper in the final stretch. Bring a torch even though one is provided—the terrain is uneven. You'll reach the rim as the sky shifts from black to grey to gold, with views stretching across rice paddies and smaller peaks. Breakfast appears: banana or egg sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, chocolate, and hot coffee or tea. The descent takes longer than you'd expect because of the loose rock.
Good to know
You need moderate fitness—this isn't a casual walk. Wear proper shoes with grip. Not suitable if pregnant, living with spinal issues, or managing cardiovascular concerns. Bring a jumper: the summit is cool at sunrise. Lunch isn't included, so eat properly beforehand. The trek is weather-dependent; heavy rain occasionally closes it.
