About this tour
Climb Bali's second-highest volcano in darkness, reaching the 1,717-metre summit of Mount Batur just as dawn breaks across the island. Your private guide leads the ascent, and you'll refuel with breakfast at the top before descending to explore emerald rice terraces. The 10-hour experience includes hotel transfers, all entrance fees, and a torch to navigate the pre-dawn scramble.

What to expect
You'll be collected from your hotel in the small hours and driven to the trailhead. The climb takes roughly two hours up a dark, rocky path—your torch helps pick out loose stones and root systems. The route is steep but straightforward, and guides set a steady pace suited to the group. Once light appears on the horizon, the summit rush is worth every step. Breakfast (simple fare) tastes better at altitude. On the way down, you'll detour through terraced rice fields where the light and geometry make for strong photographs. Back in the car by mid-morning, you'll return to your hotel.
Good to know
Wear sturdy hiking boots and a warm layer—the summit is chilly before sunrise. Bring a camera, insect repellent, and a full water bottle. Minimum two people per booking. Not suitable for those with back or heart conditions, or pregnant travellers. Minimum age 12 years.
