Earn your PADI Open Water certification over four days based in Port Douglas. Two days of theory and pool training at Quicksilver's 5-star facility are followed by two days on the reef itself, where you'll complete four mandatory training dives and two additional guided dives across more than 35 World Heritage sites at Agincourt. Small group sizes mean personalised instruction throughout, with all equipment, meals, and transfers from Port Douglas accommodation included.

What to expect

Day one and two happen poolside at the training centre, working through theory and confined-water skills in the heated pool. You'll learn equipment assembly, breathing techniques, and problem-solving in a controlled environment. Days three and four take you out on the catamaran to Agincourt's ribbon reefs. Your four mandatory open water dives happen here under close supervision—you'll put pool skills into practice on actual reef. Once certified, you can do two additional fun dives to explore further and build confidence. Expect a full schedule: early starts for reef days, morning and afternoon tea breaks, lunch provided daily.

Good to know

You need to swim 200m or 300m with mask, fins and snorkel, and tread water for 10 minutes. Moderate fitness is essential; poor cardiovascular health makes this unsuitable. Book a dive medical within 90 days if required. Avoid flying for 24 hours after your final dive (completed by 2:30pm). Port Douglas pickup only; Cairns and Northern Beaches transfers cost extra. Minimum age is 10.
