About this tour
Experience the Emerald Coast from the sidecar of a restored vintage rig, with your driver navigating from walled Saint Malo through rural lanes to the oyster port of Cancale. This three-hour loop crosses the bay's edge, stops for fresh oysters straight from the market, then returns along the Atlantic shoreline and Saint Coulomb's beaches. It's a throwback way to see Brittany's dramatic coastline without the windscreen between you and the salt air.
Highlights
- Restored vintage sidecar with helmet, gloves and goggles supplied
- Coastal roads and hidden hamlets between Saint Malo and Cancale
- Fresh oyster tasting at Cancale's working harbour market
- Saint Coulomb beaches and bay views on the return leg
- Private driver familiar with local backroads
What to expect
You'll meet your driver at the Intra Muros gate, get kitted out, then climb into the sidecar for a ride through the Sillon district. From there, you'll take winding country routes past farmland and small villages, descending into Cancale where the oyster beds meet the Mont Saint Michel bay. Here you'll have time to browse the oyster market and eat fresh from the stalls if you choose. The return follows the quieter coastal road, skirting Saint Coulomb's stretches of sand before heading back to your start point. It's windy, noisy and genuine—nothing sanitised about it.
Good to know
Dress warmly and in layers; wind chill at speed is real. The oyster market operates during daylight hours. Route is suitable for all fitness levels as you're sitting the whole time. Public transport nearby if you need an alternative.
