What to expect
Expect early starts and steady walking. Day one is gentler—a few hours to settle into Y Linh Ho homestay, then a cooking lesson before dinner with your host family. Day two is the longest push: you'll trek uphill and down through forested slopes for roughly five hours, passing through working villages before reaching Ta Van. Day three wraps up with a forest walk and visit to Giang Ta Chai before a car ride back to Sapa town by early afternoon. Trails are rocky, muddy in wet season, and often steep. Homestays offer basic comfort—squat toilets, no hot showers, shared spaces. Food is simple, rice-based, filling.
Good to know
Bring proper walking boots with ankle support, rain gear, and a lightweight pack. Not suitable if pregnant or with heart conditions. Mobile signal is patchy. Homestays have limited electricity. Guides speak English but aren't professional trekking leaders—pace is social, not athletic.
