Descend into La Orotava's dramatic canyon system with a local guide who knows every rappel and scramble. This half-day adventure takes you through narrow gorges where light filters between towering rock walls, creating an ever-shifting landscape. You'll move between abseiling sections, wading through water, and navigating natural obstacles—a proper test of nerve and fitness across six hours. All technical gear supplied; you bring the legs and the water.

What to expect

You'll move steadily downslope through sections of scrambling, abseiling, and water-crossing. The canyon narrows and widens unpredictably; footing requires attention. Your guide will rig safety equipment and talk you through each descent. Expect to wade, climb over boulders, and occasionally squeeze through tight passages. The canyon floor stays cool and damp; temperature swings happen fast. Nettles line some sections, so long sleeves matter. Pace is moderate but relentless—rest stops are brief. By the end, you'll have descended several hundred metres of vertical.

Good to know

Bring 1.5L water minimum and snacks—no facilities inside. Wear proper hiking boots or trail shoes; trainers won't grip. Pack a raincoat for sudden weather shifts. Avoid if you have spinal issues, are pregnant, fear heights, or have mobility concerns. Children under 13 not suitable. Moderate fitness essential.
