You'll learn ocean safety fundamentals and the mechanics of standing up on a board, whether you're starting from scratch or polishing beginner skills. What to expect
Expect a practical, salt-soaked morning or afternoon. You'll start on sand learning the pop-up—how to transition from lying down to standing—before entering the water. An instructor watches your technique, adjusts your positioning, and feeds you into small, rolling waves where you can practise without getting hammered. It's not glamorous; you'll get worked by water, taste salt, and probably feel muscles you forgot existed. By the end, most people catch at least a few waves unassisted. Bring a towel and patience with yourself.
Good to know
You need moderate fitness and no spinal, shoulder, or cardiovascular issues to participate safely. Pregnant travellers should sit this out. Public transport reaches the beach; the lesson doesn't include private pickup. Bring your own water and money for post-session food. Wear sunscreen under the provided zinc.
