What to expect
You'll begin in the dojo wearing provided training gi. The session starts with wooden sword drills to build form and footwork, then progresses to handling a genuine katana under close supervision. Expect focused, repetitive movements—the teaching emphasises proper stance and breathing over flashy technique. Inoue will correct your posture directly and explain the philosophy woven into each strike. By the end, you'll understand why these warriors were feared: precision, discipline, and years of repetition.
Good to know
Moderate fitness required; spinal injuries, pregnancy, and cardiovascular concerns are contraindications. All equipment provided. The dojo is accessible by public transport near Hino Station. Wear comfortable clothing under the gi.
