About this tour
Spend 90 minutes at McCaffrey's Estate blending your own red wine under guidance. You'll taste multiple components, develop your own palate, and walk away with a bottle you've personally crafted. Whether you've spent years studying wine or simply enjoy drinking it, this hands-on session teaches how winemakers balance flavour and structure. Groups of 2–14 work best for the intimate setup.
Highlights
- Blend and bottle your own red wine to take home
- Taste individual wine components before combining
- Learn what winemakers consider when balancing blends
- Small group format, maximum 14 participants
- No experience necessary to participate
What to expect
You'll arrive at the estate and be introduced to the blending process. Over the next 90 minutes, you'll sample several base wines and grape varieties, then experiment with different ratios to create your preferred blend. Staff guide you through the sensory side—colour, aroma, tannin structure—without jargon. Once happy with your mix, it's bottled and labelled for you to take home. The experience moves at a relaxed pace; expect some standing and light handling of glassware.
Good to know
Minimum two people required to book. Not suitable for pregnant travellers. Service animals are welcome. Bring an appetite if attending mid-day—wine on an empty stomach hits differently.
